The Amsterdam Chamber Music Society
Founded in 1982 by violinist Christiaan Bor, the Amsterdam Chamber Music Society ("het Reizend MuziekGezelschap") established itself as a major chamber music series in the Netherlands, presenting some of the world's finest musicians annually throughout the country. The original group of musicians met in the seventies while studying in Los Angeles with the legendary Jascha Heifetz and Gregor Piatigorsky, and played together regularly at chamber music festivals in Europe, Canada and the United States.
Inviting different guest performers to the series each year, the Amsterdam Chamber Music Society has combined masterworks from the repertoire with rare and often neglected chamber music in various combinations.
The Amsterdam Chamber Music Society recorded for Fidelio and Vanguard Classics.
